Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 October 2026
This policy explains how the DhandhoPOS Android app, published by Buildanta, handles information. In it, “we” means Buildanta and “the app” means DhandhoPOS.
The short version
Your shop’s data stays on your phone. DhandhoPOS has no account and no server of ours that receives your sales, customers or stock, and we do not run our own analytics.
The app does use the internet for three things: short video ads from Google AdMob, which keep the app free; looking up a product’s name from its barcode; and Google’s barcode scanner sending diagnostic information to Google. Your shop data is never part of any of these.
What the app keeps, and where
Everything you enter is stored in the app’s private storage on your own phone, which other apps cannot read. This includes:
- your shop’s details: name, address, phone number, GSTIN and UPI ID
- products, prices, barcodes, stock levels, batches and expiry dates, and any product photos you take
- sales, payments, refunds, discounts, shifts, cash counts, expenses and reports
- suppliers and purchase orders
- customers you choose to add: name, phone number, purchase history, loyalty points and credit (khata) balance
- staff names, employee IDs, roles, attendance and wages
- for restaurants, tables and kitchen orders; for salons and clinics, appointments and services
PINs and PIN-recovery answers are stored only as salted hashes, never as the numbers or words themselves.
We do not receive any of this. We cannot see it, and we have no copy of it.
Ads
DhandhoPOS is free because it shows short video ads from Google AdMob. For the first 14 days there are no ads. After that, watching 3 short ads a day unlocks billing and editing for that day. Viewing your data never requires an ad, and an ad never appears while you are billing a customer.
To show and measure these ads, Google’s ad software receives information from your phone, such as your device’s advertising ID, the phone model and Android version, the app version, your IP address and the approximate location worked out from it, and how you interact with the ad. Google may use this to choose ads, including personalised ads, to measure them and to prevent fraud.
We do not send your shop, sales, customer or staff data to Google or to anyone else. Google describes how it uses this information at policies.google.com/privacy and policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Product lookup and the barcode scanner
When you scan a barcode to add a product, the app sends only that barcode number to the public product databases Open Food Facts, Open Products Facts and Open Beauty Facts and, if they do not know it, UPCitemdb, to suggest a name. No shop, sales, customer or staff data is sent. Like any internet request, these services see your phone’s IP address. This never happens while you are billing a sale. Open Food Facts’ privacy policy is at world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy.
Scanning uses Google’s ML Kit, which reads the barcode on your phone. ML Kit sends Google diagnostic and usage information, such as the phone model, Android version, app version, performance figures, error codes and a per-installation identifier. It does not send camera images or what a barcode says. Google’s privacy policy applies to that information.
Things you choose to send
When you share a receipt on WhatsApp, save or share a backup file (for example to Google Drive or WhatsApp), or message or call support, the app hands it to the app you pick, and it goes wherever you send it. That app’s own privacy policy applies. We do not receive it.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera: scanning barcodes and photographing products.
- Bluetooth: printing receipts on a paired receipt printer.
- Fingerprint or screen lock: optional, to reset a forgotten owner PIN. Android checks it; the app never receives your fingerprint.
- Internet: the daily ads, the product lookup and the barcode scanner’s diagnostics described above, and sharing you choose to do.
- Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob as described above.
Backups
A backup is a single encrypted file of your whole shop, which you save or share yourself. We never receive it and cannot recover it for you. Keep it as private as your account books.
Customer and staff information you add
When you save a customer’s or staff member’s details in the app, you are the one collecting and holding that information, on your own phone. Add only what you need, with their agreement, and delete it when they ask. We cannot see or delete it for you.
Your choices
- Ads: you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your phone’s Settings, under Privacy or Google > Ads. After the first 14 days, ads are still needed to unlock billing each day.
- Your shop data: you can view, change or delete it in the app at any time.
- Questions or complaints: contact us using the details below. If your information was saved by a shop that uses DhandhoPOS, it is on that shop’s phone, so ask the shop to change or delete it.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your data stays on your phone until you delete it in the app, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Because we hold none of it, there is nothing for us to delete. A phone lock keeps it safe if the phone is lost. Information that Google or the product databases receive is kept under their own policies.
Children
DhandhoPOS is a tool for running a business. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If the app starts handling information differently, for example by adding online backup, we will update this page before that version is released and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
